Information about the ISSN
There is lots of great information on both the international and US ISSN web sites.
Take a look at the information about the definition and use of the ISSN , on the US ISSN web site.
I learned a thing or two reading through the ISSN FAQ. I didn't know that the ISSN doesn't have any "hidden" meaning, like an ISBN does.
Last but not least, don't forget about the always entertaining activity of calculating the ISSN check digit. The check digit "guard[s] against errors caused by the incorrect transcription of an ISSN"--use it or lose it!
